The claim vendors want to make
It is commercially attractive to say a platform delivers identical protection everywhere. It is also, at the level of low-level control, not true — and enterprise security teams generally know it is not true.
Windows, macOS, iOS and Android expose fundamentally different security surfaces. The degree of kernel visibility, the availability of process-level intervention, the management primitives and the constraints imposed by each vendor’s application model differ substantially and deliberately.
A better formulation
One intelligence. Platform-native enforcement.
The intelligence — what is happening, what it means for enterprise trust, what should change — is genuinely unified. It has to be, or the enterprise ends up correlating four partial pictures by hand.
Enforcement is expressed through whatever each platform actually provides. That is not a limitation to apologize for; it is how you build something that works within each OS vendor’s model instead of fighting it and breaking on the next major release.
What this looks like in practice
- The same trust evaluation runs across every platform, from the same signals and the same policy
- A change in trust produces the appropriate action for that platform, not a lowest-common-denominator action everywhere
- The Command Center presents one estate, not four consoles
- Where a platform cannot support a given action, that is visible rather than silently degraded
Why this matters for buyers
A vendor that claims uniform low-level control across all four operating systems is either describing something narrower than it sounds, or has built something fragile. Asking exactly which enforcement primitives are used on each platform — and what happens when one is unavailable — is a reasonable question, and the answer tells you a lot.
